In the United States in 2007, approximately 10,400 children under the age of 15 were diagnosed with cancer and bout 1,545 children will die from the disease. On average 1 to 2 children develop the disease each year for every 10,000 children in the United States. Don’t get me wrong, my goal today is not to scare you all into find a cure for cancer right this second but to make you all aware of what the effects are of this disease. While cancer has a strong impact on the life of a patient, it reaches those closest to the person who has cancer. My name is Ashley Gbemudu and for my senior seminar I decided to focus on the psychological factors that come into play with cancer, not only with the victim, but with the family as well.
